CT AWARDS SPOTLIGHT 2026: Amundi

CT AWARDS SPOTLIGHT 2026: Amundi

As market volatility changes the way companies manage their cash, Amundi has strengthened its offering for Asian treasurers through a combination of global scale, regional support and solutions covering daily, operating and strategic cash.

The leading European asset manager has built a strong local footprint in Asia, with 10 offices, 5 investment hubs, and more than 400 employees in its direct presence. This regional reach supports a cash-management range designed to help treasury teams preserve capital, maintain access to their funds and earn more from cash held for periods ranging from a single day to six months or longer.

Rather than treating surplus cash as a single pool, Amundi divides corporate cash into three broad layers:

·       Money-market funds for daily and operating liquidity.

·       Smart Overnight Return strategies for core treasury USD and local currency cash to target higher returns with no duration risk and interest sensitivity risk.

·       Short-duration bonds for more strategic balances.

For immediate liquidity needs, the Amundi Money Market Fund – Short Term (USD) offers same-day settlement, focusing on capital preservation, low volatility and diversification. In March 2026, the firm extended the fund’s same-day dealing schedule to five Asian cut-off times, giving regional treasury teams more opportunities to access the fund during their working day.

For cash that can move a step beyond conventional money-market exposure, Amundi Smart Overnight Return targets a known-in-advance overnight rate plus a spread. The strategy offers daily access and T+1 settlement, while maintaining zero duration and collateralisation of more than 100%.

For treasurers with a longer investment horizon, the Amundi Funds US Short Term Bond strategy offers a diversified investment-grade portfolio seeking additional income while limiting sensitivity to interest-rate movements. The portfolio uses three liquidity layers, spanning highly liquid instruments, intermediate holdings and longer-term core positions.

Amundi has also invested in new ways for companies to hold and manage cash. In December 2025, it launched bespoke euro and US dollar tokenised money-market fund share classes with a global payments company, supported by CACEIS infrastructure. The initiative provided a live example of how blockchain technology could support institutional cash management and improve liquidity processes within a corporate group.

In Asia, Amundi introduced its Fund Channel Liquidity platform, allowing treasurers to select, invest in and analyse liquidity funds through a single digital environment.

These developments have been accompanied by new business. Amundi secured the first Asian Investors in its Smart Overnight Return strategy (available in both ETF and fund format), recorded large dedicated bond mandate from a major Chinese e-commerce platform. Further, in March 2026, Amundi appointed a dedicated Business Development Head to cover the evolving needs of large corporates in Asia ex-China and provide liquidity solutions across the region.

Taken together, these developments show how Amundi is adapting its global liquidity business to the day-to-day requirements of Asian companies. The firm is building on the existing adoption of its cash management strategies amongst large multinationals globally, with these solutions now being used in Asia to suit the local needs of treasurers – giving them options for different cash horizons, while retaining a clear focus on access, risk control and capital preservation.

“This [award] recognition highlights Amundi’s role as a trusted partner for corporates seeking efficient solutions to invest their surplus cash,” said Carine Souvannavong, Head of Corporates & Liquidity Solutions for Amundi in Asia ex-China. “With over 35 years of track record in managing cash in our wide range of money market funds, Amundi brings scale, oversight and institutional cash expertise to treasurers across Asia.”
