Cargill: Ship owners need to sail with eBL
Nadeem Ashraf, trade execution lead at Cargill, tells CT the difficulties of breaking from the age-old way of doing global trades.

In February 2013, Cargill made its first grain shipment from North and South America to the Caribbean and Europe using electronic bills of lading (eBL), after completing trials in 2012. In Asia-Pacific, the trading house expanded eBLs usage to bulk iron ore cargoes in trades from Australia to China since June 2013. Mining company BHP Billiton also adopted this process at the same time.
