Asian finance teams brace for the Fed’s first rate cut since 2020
As the US Fed is expected to cut rates by either 25 or 50 bps this week, Asia-based treasurers suggest keeping track of the long-term fundamentals of the rate cycle.

The US Federal Reserve is expected to start its much-awaited rate cut cycle during this week’s scheduled meeting, during Asia time midnight at the beginning of Thursday, September 19 (the end of Wednesday). The move will be a key moment for markets and corporates after the Fed chair Jerome Powell said that “the time has come” for policies to be adjusted, during the Jackson Hole conference in late August.
