It was the culmination of four years of hard work. Completed in 2013, Mark Butcher (pictured) and his treasury team at New Zealand’s Auckland Council completed the consolidation of eight council entities into one new organisation, a project driven by central government to save on costs and create economies of scale in the Auckland region.
