Japan’s yen fell this this week to an 18-month low against the dollar as Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi seeks to shore up her coalition.

Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi is set to call a snap general election in the parliamentary session later this month with a potential vote taking place as soon as February 8.
