Standard Chartered hires new wholesale banking head

Standard Chartered has hired Alex Manson as group head, wholesale banking geographies. He will be based in London and reports directly to Mike Rees, group executive director and CEO of wholesale banking.

Manson has been tasked with representing Standard Chartered to major corporate and institutional clients in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as increasing revenue in those regions. This is a new position created to prioritize the regional perspective as a stronger driving force in Standard Chartered’s wholesale banking division. He started August 13.

The wholesale bank, which houses a combined trade and cash management business, emphasizes its ability to facilitate cross-border transactions through these regions.

Manson comes to Standard Chartered from Deutsche Bank where he worked for over 12 years in several senior management positions including global head of corporate banking, coverage and global lending; and head of global banking coverage in Asia-Pacific. Prior to his long stint at Deutsche Bank, Manson worked at Credit Suisse for seven years.
