New hire in HSBC’s Asia-Pacific trade finance team

HSBC has hired Quang Buu Huynh as its head of global trade and receivables finance (GTRF), Asia-Pacific (International). Huynh starts his new role on September 1.
The appointment comes close on the heels of several trade finance hires at the Hong Kong office with Ricardo Elias as regional head of receivables finance Asia-Pacific in August, and Bhriguraj Singh who started at the bank as its new head of product management for GTRF for Asia-Pacific on June 10.
Quang has been brought in to build revenue in HSBC’s regional growth markets, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, Mauritius, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand. The bank has confirmed that Asia-Pacific is its largest regional source of trade receivables revenue.
Quang was previously HSBC’s head of commercial banking for Vietnam and will be relocating to Hong Kong from Ho Chi Mihn city. He will report to Simon Constantinides, regional head of GTRF Asia-Pacific.
In his previous role, Quang led the bank’s commercial banking, trade and supply chain finance, and corporate insurance businesses and was involved with the bank’s first share acquisitions in local banks. He has been with HSBC since 1996.
