
Indonesia aims to stem rupiah appreciation amid inflows
Bank Indonesia has said that it will intervene in the FX market to stop dangerous levels of appreciation after passage of a tax amnesty law.

Bank Indonesia (BI) says it will try to stop the rupiah appreciating too much or too quickly in the wake of an expected increase of rupiah inflows following the introduction of a tax amnesty law. Commentators have suggested the central bank wants to protect itself from potentially hazardous consequences of the new law.
