Collaborative financing programmes and technology adoption can help drive decarbonisation efforts, before mandates from regulators kick in. In particular, there is a need to address Scope 3 emissions which come from across the supply chain.

Ever since the Rana Plaza disaster 11 years ago, when a building in Dhaka, Bangladesh, home to five garment factories, collapsed and killed 1,134 people, the fashion and garment industries globally have been under scrutiny from consumers. For years, big brands in more developed markets including the US and western Europe have been supplied by factories, mostly located in Southeast Asia (SEA), where there has been poor conditions for local workers.
