It has been a turbulent couple of weeks for the bitcoin. Between January 12 and 14, its value plummeted 36% to around $177. The crash led commentators to deride the bitcoin as a store of value, with The Washington Post branding it a Ponzi scheme — libertarians all over the world were aghast.
